On Thursday, we (Kate, Catherine and I) went to the zoo. We bought a family membership back in January and this was our third trip. It works out well to drive down during nap time, spend a couple of hours and then drive home in time for dinner. That is, if Kate sleeps in the car, which on Thursday she didn't. But even with a very tired toddler, we had a good time.
We spent most of the time in the toddler area - a section specifically designed for pre-schoolers with sand boxes, creeks, caves and tunnels, a beach and lots of things to explore and places to get dirty and wet. Which we did.
If Kate is walking, expect to take a long time to get where you're going. Because there are leaves! and flowers! and birds! and trees! and! and!
Eventually, if you are to make any progress, you'll have to grab her hand. But don't ask if you can hold her hand, or she will say 'no', her favourite word.
I don't remember what was in the enclosure. Small monkeys, maybe?
In the children's area, she went fishing with the magnetic rods and tried catching some fish. She loved it.
On the way out we went by some big fish tanks. As you can see, she is no longer wearing pants. That's because of all those chances to get wet. She took full advantage.
