I decided I needed to finish the mostly finished projects around here. I started this blanket before I started the sundress, but it got put on hold when I got to the point where I had to sew the pieces together. I purposefully didn't change the pattern to avoid the sewing since I knew I needed the practice.
It's super soft because I used Superwash Merino. Ahhhhh.

Wow! What a great job. My Grandma used to make blankets like this.
Lovely blanket! :-)
I'm in the middle of knitting something similar for an expecting friend. My pattern says I'm to use whip stitch to sew the pieces together. Is that what you used for this project?
BTW, this is Katrina from AM.
Katrina, I used mattress stitch. Whip stitch would work for pieces that are the same colour, since you will see the yarn you use to sew them together. Since I was joining various colours, mattress stitch worked better because you can't see the yarn I used to join them. Does that make sense?
Wow Beth, that is beautiful! Where is the pattern from or did you make it up?
Ah, I think mattress stitch might work better - it's a color block pattern in green, yellow, blue, and purple.
I'm mostly a self-taught knitter, so I appreciate the hints I get from other knitters along the way.
Thanks!
