Our first parenting award

We got our first bad parent award today. We've been having Kate nap on our bed even though in the last few weeks she's been getting more mobile. I knew that at some point we wouldn't be able to have her napping there. Today was the day. I heard her stirring after only an hour, so I was quite sure she would fall back to sleep. Instead, a few minutes later a thump followed by a scream. She's fine, and landed on her feet/bum, but it was scary for all of us. Now we have to adjust to her going down for her naps in her crib. It's going to suck for a few days.

And I'll miss snuggling with her on the bed before she falls asleep. I wonder if I can fit in her crib.

Well, I guess them birdies need to fall out of the nest at least once before they learn to fly! Glad she's okay.

oh my goodness . . . how scary for you! I think the baby-rolling-off-of- something is a rite of passage for everyone. Nora came pretty close to tipping forward off the couch today. It's bound to happen! Kiss Kate's head for us.

Glad she's okay, but what a heart in your throat moment. When Maya was a baby she rolled out of our bed while I was still asleep one morning. Scared the heck out of me.

You're so lucky she landed the way she did. That's good - no goose eggs. Emily never really fell off of anything when she was really little. Hope did it all the time. Second child - less attention, more bumps.

Yeah! Welcome to the club! We let Austin dive head-first out of the crib when the side was down and he was first standing. It's the scariest sound and moment ever to hear that crash and screaming, but they're pretty resilient.

Oh yeah, Hope fell out of her crib once too when I left the side down - right after her nap was over she threw herself over the side trying to climb out - luckily landed on her back - but that thump sound is so awful when they hit the floor and you just know what caused it.
